Welcome
to the Join-a-School Community Resource Guide. The intent of this
database is to assist educators with contact information for

i.e. judging science fairs.
Businesses/organizations are grouped in the database by the
following State Career Pathways:

There
are two ways to access information:
-
Click on the
appropriate pathway and all entries designated for that career
cluster will appear.
-
Check the index at
the end of the database for a complete listing of all entries,
click on the name and the information will emerge.
Here
are some tips for teachers to follow when using someone listed in
this database:
 |
Schools should make
direct contact with speakers and other resource people. |
 |
Follow up your
initial contact with a written confirmation. |
 |
Two weeks is the
minimum time needed to request a presenter. |
 |
Prepare your students
for the presentation by linking it to the curriculum and to
standards. |
 |
Notify the office
that you will have a speaker coming. |
 |
If appropriate, have
a student in the office to meet the guest and act as an escort. |
 |
Get some background
information so that someone can introduce the speaker. |
 |
Teachers should
remain in the classroom with the presenter at all times and be
responsible for the behavior of the class. |
 |
Please have the
students send thank you notes directly to the speaker. |
 |
Call the
Join-a-School office if there are concerns about any listing in
this database or to give us feedback about how we can improve. |
